Stagecoach have recently announced that from 28th May they will no longer serve Fowey Avenue, meaning over 500 homes will no longer have a bus service.

Cllr Darren Cowell said, "This decision by Stagecoach will leave 100s of residents without easy access to the bus service, many of whom are elderly and people with mobility limitations.

"This is yet another example of this private bus company purely looking to operate services for their convenience and profit margins.  The needs of residents are not a consideration.

Darren has launched a petition which can be downloaded from this page or copies are available at the Shiphay Post Office on Cadewell Lane.

Darren added, "The government are saying they want to encourage greater use of public transport, but Stagecoach are discouarging a large section of Shiphay from using the bus.  I am aware that the new Conservative administration running Torbay pledged to protect local bus routes so this will be their first test in delivering that promise."
